Delete your account

Wild Where, operated by Ascendaris Inc. · Based on Privacy Policy v5.0 (§8 and §9)

Delete in the app

The quickest way is from inside the app, while signed in to the account you want to delete.

iPhone (iOS)

  1. Open the More tab and tap Settings.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account & Data.
  3. Follow the prompts to confirm.

Android

  1. Open the More tab and tap Settings.
  2. Under Account, tap Delete Account & Data.
  3. Follow the prompts to confirm.

Deletion starts as soon as you confirm, and it cannot be undone. If you want a copy of your data first, use Settings › Privacy Settings › Download My Data before you delete.

You don't have to delete your whole account to remove something: you can delete individual sightings or trips at any time.

Ask us to delete it without the app

If you no longer have the app or can't sign in, email our Privacy Officer at privacy@wildwhere.com with the subject “Account deletion request”. Send it from the email address on your Wild Where account — that is how we verify the request. Someone acting for you can make the request with proof of authorization; we will confirm with you directly before acting.

We aim to respond within 30 days. If a request is complex or we need more information from you, we will tell you before the 30 days are up, and why.

What is deleted

Deleting your account removes the following from your device and from our cloud:

  • Your sightings (both the public map copy and your internal record) and their photos
  • Your trips and waypoints, and your highway sign reports
  • Your identified verification votes
  • Your profile (email, optional name, Apple ID link) and your trust score / reputation
  • Any opt-in presence pings
  • Any data-export (download) archives
  • Your age confirmation, which is only ever stored on your device

Deleting the app from your phone removes the data stored on that phone, but it does not delete your account or your cloud data — use one of the options above.

What is kept, and for how long

Some records survive account deletion because the law, legal defence or accountability requires them, or because they are not linked to your account. Privacy Policy v5.0 §8 sets these periods:

RecordKept for
Consent ledger (what you agreed to or withdrew, and the text you saw)Marked deleted and kept 7 years after account deletion as a legal-defence record, then permanently purged
Moderation & administrative audit log (append-only record of admin actions — who accessed or changed what)7 years, even after account deletion
Records of privacy (data-export) requests — pseudonymized if you delete your account24 months, then deleted
Human-review requests about automated decisions12 months after final resolution (pending requests are not purged), then deleted
Human-review request emails90 days, then purged automatically
Internal processing logs90 days, then purged automatically
Error / diagnostic logs (keyed to a rotatable install identifier, not your account)90 days, then deleted automatically
Performance telemetry (app performance, map-tile, data and power usage)365 days, then deleted automatically
Dead-zone coverage records (cloud copy)Account-linked for 90 days, then de-identified (identifiers stripped; only the aggregate coverage row remains)
Cellular signal records used to refine the dead-zone map90 days, then deleted
Data that has already been de-identified (votes older than 90 days, dead-zone records older than 90 days, presence coverage aggregates)Indefinitely — it is no longer linked to you and is no longer personal information
Signed up for the beta on this website?

Beta sign-up records (name, email, platform, language and consent record) are separate from your app account. They are kept until the beta program concludes or you ask to be removed, whichever comes first, and deleted within 30 days of either. To be removed, email privacy@wildwhere.com.

Questions or concerns
